The Knitter`s Handy Book of Patterns
|
This book is a great reference whether you're a beginner knitter or have loads of experience. The book covers mittens, gloves, hats, tams, scarves, socks, vests, and sweaters - both pullovers and cardigans; yarn from fingering weight to bulky; and sizes from Child's size 2 to Man's Large (even goes as small as preemie for the hats). It gives yardage estimates for each project, and uses charts to give you patterns in various yarn weights and various sizes. Each chart shows a minimum of 6 yarn weights, and 6 sizes. Each section includes a drawing with measurements, and a quick tips page for improving the end garment. There are also suggestions on how to personalize and embellish the basic designs with stitch patterns or colour. There is also an illustrated glossary of techniques, a list of standard knitting abbreviations, and an index.
